When Apple’s Garageband was released in 2004, it offered a sleek, easy-to-use interface for musicians and non-musicians alike to write and record their own songs. Since its initial release, it has become the most popular music software in the world, and Apple has added tons of new features and samples to the program, continually evolving and providing great new upgrades for users.
And this past July, Apple upped the proverbial ante by offering a ton of killer new features.
Ever wanted to learn how Top 40 remixes are constructed? Users of GarageBand can now learn the art of remixing with detailed step-by-step video instruction and featuring hit songs from Grammy Award-winning artists Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga. During these sessions, anyone can interact with these hits just as an artist would in the studio, hearing isolated vocals, beats, and individual instruments that provide the foundational elements of a song.
How cool is that?!?!
There are also tons of new beats, loops, and instruments created just for GarageBand by some of the world’s top producers, including Boys Noize, Mark Lettieri, Oak Felder, Soulection, Take A Daytrip, Tom Misch, and TRAKGIRL. GarageBand users can now use royalty-free loops, beats, instruments, drum kits, synth patches, and samples that embody the sound and vibe of each producer.
Even more exciting–there‚Äôs also an additional ‚ÄúProducer Pack‚Äù that provides a special companion experience to the new Apple Original docuseries ‚ÄúWatch the Sound With Mark Ronson,‚Äù enabling viewers to experiment with sounds inspired by the music featured in the show. Users can extend the viewing experience by getting hands-on time with GarageBand versions of the music technology featured in every episode, from sampling to drum machines, synths to reverb, and vocal effects to distortion.
With all these new interactive features and innovative tools, there’s never been a better time for composers, musicians, producers, and engineers to dig into the world of GarageBand.
